The Indian Parliamentary Delegation, led by Shri Harivansh, Hon'ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, continued its participation in the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania, on the fifth and final day of the Assembly, 9 October 2026.

Shri Harivansh and Members of the Delegation attended the meeting of the Governing Council of the IPU, which took up the remaining agenda items, including the election of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and reports of specialised meetings.

Shri Harivansh, Hon'ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha; Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, MP, Lok Sabha; and Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat, MP, Lok Sabha, cast the three votes allocated to India in the election of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
