The India Meteorological Department (IMD), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), issues warnings and alerts, including impact-based forecasts (IBFs) for heatwaves, at the district level twice a day. It includes the expected impact and suggested actions to mitigate heatwaves, as outlined in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) guidelines and the heat action plan.
