India, Dec. 20 -- The Government of India has issued a release:
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, today said that weight reducing or anti-obesity drugs, currently available, ought to be used very judiciously.
The Minister, who is himself a noted Diabetologist and Professor of Medicine, said that obesity is a complex, chronic and relapsing disorder, and not merely a cosmetic or lifestyle concern, calling for a whole-of-society approach to effectively combat what has emerged as one of India's most pressing public health challenges.
