India, Feb. 3 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been implementing various schemes and initiatives for the welfare of senior citizens across the country, with a focus on strengthening long-term care infrastructure, assisted living facilities and support systems for the elderly.

As per the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (LASI), conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 23.8 per cent of persons aged 60 years and above in the country suffer from at least one limitation in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), indicating varying degrees of care dependency.
