India, Aug. 11 -- The Government of India has issued a release:
Yard 3037 (Shruti), Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), was launched at M/s GRSE, Kolkata on 11 Aug 2026 by Mrs Manika Sadhu, in the presence of Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition. The event reflected the rich traditions, and ethos of the Indian Navy. Senior dignitaries from the Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, and GRSE attended the occasion.
The construction of NGOPVs is concurrently being undertaken at two shipyards (GSL, Goa & GRSE, Kolkata). These indigenously designed and built ships will augment the existing OPVs/ NOPVs for multi domain operations, such as maritime surveillance, search and rescue, protection of offshor...
