Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged-in the 17-member Indian Coast Guard (ICG) mountaineering team at a grand ceremony on October 12, 2026 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The team successfully scaled Mount Mukut, a 7,045-metre peak, on October 07, 2026, under the expert guidance of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling.
The expedition marked Phase V and the final milestone of an intensive 18-month preparatory training programme, aimed at preparing the team for the ultimate challenge of scaling Mount Everest during the ICG's Swarnim Jayanti celebrations in 2027.
