India, Oct. 14 -- A driver was killed after a Xiaomi Corp. SU7 electric sedan caught fire following a crash in the Chinese city of Chengdu on Monday, sending the company's shares down more than 5%, according to CNBC.
Police said the 31-year-old driver died after the SU7 collided with another sedan.
Preliminary investigations suggest he may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
They later used fire extinguishers to bring the fire under control.
Xiaomi has not yet issued a statement on the incident.
The crash has raised safety concerns over the use of electronic door handles-features popularised by Tesla and now common among modern electric vehicles.
