India, Sept. 12 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in India on Saturday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, during which he is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the mega event in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada received Xi at the airport.

Welcoming the Chinese President to India, Prasada posted on X: "A warm welcome was extended to the President of the People's Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, on his arrival in India to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit."

"With the sacred spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', a hearty welcome and felicitation to you on the historic soil of India!" he added.
