Mumbai/IBNS, Sept. 21 -- Professor Suryanarayana Doolla of IIT Bombay's Department of Energy Science and Engineering has come under scrutiny following the September 2026 death of second-year student Sahil Wakode.

Doolla, whose academic work focuses on power systems, smart grids, microgrids, renewable-energy integration and power-electronics control, was the invigilator during the examination in which Wakode was allegedly found using a mobile phone to upload the question paper to an AI platform.

The controversy intensified after Wakode died by suicide.

The allegations remain under investigation.
