India, April 17 -- A wedding celebration in Basti district in Uttar Pradesh took a horrific turn when an 11-year-old boy was allegedly thrown into a burning tandoor after taking rasgullas.

The injured child, identified as Chaman, suffered severe burn injuries in the incident, which occurred on Wednesday.

According to police, a case has been registered against an unidentified catering worker, and efforts are underway to trace the accused, reported NDTV.

Chaman, a resident of Gonda, had been living with his maternal relatives in Basti following the death of his mother.

He had attended a relative's wedding in a village in the district on the day of the incident.
