Vijay's big freebie push: 3 LPG cylinders, expanded free bus travel for women
India, Aug. 25 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Monday announced three free LPG cylinders a year for families with an annual income below Rs 2.5 lakh, along with expanded free bus travel for women and free bus rides for transgender persons.
Unveiling a fresh set of welfare measures in the Assembly, Vijay said the 'Annapoorani Super Six' scheme would be launched from Pongal 2027.
The initiative is expected to benefit around 1.30 crore families and cost the state government approximately Rs 4,000 crore annually.
