UK heatwave shocker: Britain records fifth-hottest day ever at 38.1degC
India, Aug. 14 -- The UK experienced its hottest day of the year on August 13, with temperatures reaching 38.1degC, making it the fifth-hottest day ever recorded in the country, the Met Office said.
Pershore in Worcestershire recorded a high of 38degC, while 40 locations across central and southern England registered temperatures of 36degC or higher, according to the Met Office.
The latest heatwave means 2026 has recorded the highest number of days reaching or exceeding 36degC - four days - and 37degC - three days. It has also matched 2022 for the number of days with temperatures reaching 38degC, with two such days recorded this year.
