Kolkata/IBNS, Aug. 9 -- Two years after the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the case is back at the centre of public and institutional attention, with West Bengal ordering a two-minute silence across government healthcare facilities and launching a separate departmental inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crime.

The state Health and Family Welfare Department has directed all government hospitals, health centres and medical institutions under its control to observe silence from 11 am to 11:02 am on Sunday, August 9, marking the second anniversary of the killing.
