India, Aug. 11 -- The US State Department on Monday said it has revoked more than 175,000 visas during President Donald Trump's tenure for foreign nationals who violated visa terms or were involved in criminal activity, including reckless driving, sexual assault and child abuse.

Sharing details, the department said the majority of the visa revocations resulted from law enforcement encounters involving various forms of criminal activity. Assault, driving under the influence, theft and drug-related offences were among the leading causes.

"A significant share of visas were revoked for reckless driving, sexual assault, child abuse, fraud and embezzlement, and other crimes," the department said.
