Agartala/IBNS, July 20 -- Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar was found dead inside his office chamber at the Police Headquarters in Agartala on Monday.

The senior IPS officer was taken to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after prolonged resuscitation efforts.

Preliminary information suggests that the death may be a case of suicide.

However, officials said the exact cause of death will be established only after a post-mortem examination and completion of the investigation.

Secretary to the Chief Minister Kiran Gitte said the circumstances surrounding Dhankar's death have not yet been officially established.
