India, July 11 -- A case has been registered against a doctor in Kerala following allegations that negligence while administering anaesthesia led to the death of a one-year-and-five-month-old child.

The case, filed under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was registered based on a complaint lodged by K. Rajeevan, a relative of the child from Eramam, The Hindu reported.

Devansh Shaurya, the only child of T. Suraj and Vijisha, suffered a cut on his lip after falling while playing outside his home on July 5. He was initially taken to a primary health centre in Mathamangalam, where he received first aid.

The hospital, however, denied allegations of medical negligence.
