New Delhi/IBNS, Aug. 25 -- The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings against Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad over two cases related to his online post on Operation Sindoor, media reports said.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi told a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police that it can't frame charges against the professor till the next hearing, NDTV reported.

Police told the court that one case against Mahmudabad has been closed.

Professor Mahmudabad is an associate professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at Ashoka University located in Sonepat, Haryana.

The professor was granted conditional bail by the Supreme Court.
