India, Sept. 26 -- The Election Commission of India on Saturday clarified that the decision on conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across all states and Union Territories was unanimously approved by the Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

Speaking on the form 6, which is used for inclusion of names in the voters' list, the EC said in a statement: "The declaration attached to Form 6 for SIR has been upheld by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. For non-SIR period, the Forms applicable as per Rules (the Registration of Electors Rules 1960) will be used."
