India, June 9 -- Police in Pakistan are investigating the motive behind a shocking acid attack on a 22-year-old female doctor inside Civil Hospital in Quetta, an incident that has triggered widespread outrage across the country.

The victim, identified as Dr Mahnoor Nasir, was on duty at the time of the attack on Saturday. She is currently receiving specialised treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi after being shifted there by the provincial government.

Authorities said the attackers were killed while attempting to flee the scene shortly after the incident.
