New Delhi/IBNS, Oct. 26 -- Several people were injured after five vehicles in the convoy of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi collided with an ambulance on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, media reports said.

Rahul Gandhi was safe following the incident, while the injured included Congress party workers and security personnel.

The vehicles involved in the collision were reportedly part of the rear section of the convoy.

The accident occurred near Haliyapur, around 100 km from Uttar Pradesh's state capital, Lucknow.

The circumstances leading to the accident were not immediately clear.
