India, Oct. 17 -- Saudi Arabia has executed two Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly committing an "immoral act" inside a mosque in Makkah, media reports said.

The Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah said it had not been informed of the executions in advance and had formally sought acknowledgement from Saudi authorities, The Daily Star reported.

"The consulate was not notified by the Ministry beforehand," a mission official told The Daily Star via WhatsApp on Friday.

A statement issued by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior, as quoted by Ajel News, identified the two Bangladeshi nationals as Nazerul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar.
