Kolkata/IBNS, March 19 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to field the mother of the RG Kar rape-murder victim as its candidate from the Panihati constituency in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters, the victim's mother said she has decided to enter the electoral fray on a BJP ticket after initially declining the party's offer.

She added that her decision was also driven by her desire to challenge the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The victim's mother further stated that she and her husband felt compelled to join the system to seek justice.

She also accused Left parties of using the RG Kar case as a "political tool" and alleged that they were indirectly aiding the TMC by dividing votes.
