Mumbai/IBNS, Dec. 26 -- Railway-linked stocks surged on Friday in the backdrop of the Indian Railways' revision of passenger fare structure, media reports said.
The fare revision, formally notified by the Ministry of Railways, aims to balance passenger affordability with operational sustainability. Certain services, such as suburban and season tickets, are exempt from the hike.
The revised fare slabs take effect from December 26, 2025.
For Ordinary Non-AC (Non-Suburban) services, fares have been rationalised in a graded manner:
Sleeper Class and First Class Ordinary: Uniform increase of 1 paise per kilometre for non-suburban journeys.
