India, Oct. 13 -- A joint petition filed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several INDIA bloc leaders challenging alleged electoral irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has been flagged for 14 defects by the Supreme Court registry, including a shortfall of Rs.220 in court fees.

The registry also pointed out missing authorisations from nine petitioners and an illegible photocopy of the identity card of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, among other procedural discrepancies.

The objections must be addressed before the petition can be listed for a hearing in the Supreme Court.
