India, May 25 -- Indian tourists can now travel to Sri Lanka using a free Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for up to 30 days, following new regulations introduced by the Sri Lankan government.

The facility has also been extended to travellers from 39 other countries, with the new rules coming into effect on May 25, 2026.

Under the updated system, travellers are not required to obtain a physical visa before entering Sri Lanka. Instead, they must apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arrival.

Previously, visitors from SAARC nations, including India, were required to pay USD 20 for a 30-day double-entry tourist visa, while travellers from other eligible countries paid USD 50.
