India, Sept. 29 -- Pakistani police have registered a case against a faith healer for allegedly torturing a girl during a ritual to exorcise a djinn, according to media reports.

Rani Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Azam and a resident of Kot Momin in Sargodha, had gone to visit her cousin, Sumera Bibi, in Bhabhrana village under the jurisdiction of Kandiwal police station in Lalian tehsil. The two reportedly visited faith healer Pir Allah Ditta for treatment.

According to the complaint, the faith healer took Rani to a separate room, where he allegedly punched her and beat her with a stick on her face and other parts of her body, Dawn reported.
