India, Jan. 22 -- The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced on Thursday, and the final slate largely lived up to industry expectations.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners emerged as the biggest contender of the year, sweeping an impressive 16 nominations, while Leonardo DiCaprio-led One Battle After Another followed closely with 14 nods.

India's official submission, Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound, failed to make it to the final five in the Best International Feature Film category. Backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, and had earlier made the Academy's shortlist.
