India, Aug. 16 -- Russian authorities have claimed that more than 800 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in one of the largest aerial attacks launched by Kyiv since the war began in 2022.
The Russian Defence Ministry said its air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 822 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones between 8 p.m. Moscow time on August 15 and 8 a.m. on August 16.
According to a statement quoted by TASS, the drones were downed over several Russian regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Tambov and Tula. Drones were also reportedly intercepted over the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Region, Crimea, and parts of the Azov and Black Seas.
