India, Aug. 13 -- A short early-morning joyride ahead of a friend's birthday celebration turned fatal in Nagpur on Wednesday when a car carrying three teenagers crashed into a stationary truck, killing two of them and seriously injuring the third.

The accident took place in the Kalamna area at around 5:30 am.

Police have since registered a case against the father of the 17-year-old who was allegedly driving the car, accusing him of allowing his minor son to drive the vehicle.

The three friends had planned to attend the birthday celebration of a friend identified as Jai.

The group comprised Mihir Behar, 17, Bhaumik Larokar, 16, and Sagar Melwani, 17.
