New Delhi, June 24 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met national security advisers and senior security officials from BRICS countries, highlighting the bloc's growing role in addressing global security challenges.

The prime minister said BRICS has an important role to play in strengthening collaboration on key security issues as geopolitical and technological challenges continue to evolve.

Modi also outlined priorities for India's upcoming chairmanship of the grouping, saying New Delhi would focus on advancing practical cooperation among member states and promoting the interests of the Global South.
