New Delhi/IBNS, July 18 -- Vikram-1, India's first private orbital rocket, was successfully launched on Saturday under Mission Aagaman, marking a major milestone in the country's expanding private space sector.

The rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, heralding a new chapter in India's space exploration journey.

Named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai

The launch vehicle has been named Vikram-1 in honour of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, widely regarded as the Father of the Indian Space Programme.

The rocket has been developed by Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, one of India's leading private space technology companies.
