Washington DC/IBNS, Oct. 27 -- Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to eligible employees as the technology giant seeks to cut costs and redirect investments towards artificial intelligence (AI), media reports said.

The company announced the voluntary exit offer on Monday, marking another workforce restructuring move amid its growing focus on AI.

The offer is available to employees in select teams in the United States, Canada, India and Britain at the vice-president level and below.

Amy Coleman, Microsoft's executive vice-president and chief people officer, described the initiative as part of the company's evolving approach to organisational change.
