India, Sept. 9 -- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday said it was aware of the inauguration of a temple by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) in the Paris region and the controversy that followed a delegation's visit to the Eiffel Tower.

However, the ministry distanced itself from the dispute, saying the issue concerning the Eiffel Tower was "purely between the entities concerned".

"We are aware of the opening of a temple by the BAPS Sanstha in the Paris area. As to the particular issue pertaining to the Tower, this is a matter purely between the entities concerned," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
