India, July 29 -- The first international consignment of Purabi Ice Cream from Assam has been exported to Bhutan, marking a significant milestone for the state's dairy industry and opening new avenues for value-added dairy exports from the North Eastern Region.

The inaugural shipment, comprising 5,627 litres of Purabi Ice Cream, was flagged off by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Exported by North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL), the consignment will supply Purabi Ice Cream to key markets across Bhutan, including Thimphu, Paro, Phuentsholing and Wangdue, strengthening the presence of dairy products from Assam and the wider North Eastern Region in neighbouring international markets.
