Kolkata hotel fire kills 9: Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul targets ex-TMC govt, CESC over licences
Kolkata/IBNS, Aug. 19 -- West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul has blamed the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and power supplier CESC over the deadly fire that broke out at a hotel in Kolkata's New Market area.
Speaking to reporters, Paul alleged that the hotel had been granted permission to operate by the erstwhile government despite allegedly falling short of the necessary requirements.
Paul said she would speak to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on the matter and that the government would form a team comprising representatives of various departments to inspect hotels and buildings in the area and identify those operating illegally.
