Israel admits foreign pilot security gaps after Flydubai cockpit attack
India, Oct. 4 -- Israel's Transportation Ministry has acknowledged major gaps in the security screening of foreign pilots flying into the country, following the stabbing of an Indian captain by an Omani co-pilot aboard a flydubai flight this week, media reports said.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev said the ministry does not conduct background checks on foreign pilots and does not have the authority or resources to determine whether individual crew members pose a security threat.
She said decisions on threat levels and whether flights should operate to particular destinations are the responsibility of security agencies.
