India, Oct. 8 -- An IndiGo flight from Patna to Lucknow made an emergency landing in the Uttar Pradesh capital on Wednesday after the aircraft was struck by lightning mid-air.

The aircraft, carrying 104 passengers and six crew members, was flying at an altitude of around 17,000 feet when it was hit by lightning.

Nose of aircraft damaged

The lightning strike caused damage to the nose section of the aircraft.

All passengers and crew members were reported safe.

Aircraft grounded after incident

Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded for inspection and will not be allowed to resume operations until it receives the required regulatory clearance.
