India, Sept. 10 -- The Indian government on Tuesday expressed 'deep concern' over Israeli strikes on Qatar, targeting Hamas leadership.
In a statement, India's Ministry of External Affairs said: "We have seen reports about the Israeli strikes in Doha earlier today. We are deeply concerned by this development and its impact on the security situation in the region."
"We strongly urge restraint and diplomacy, so that peace and security in the region are not endangered," the MEA said.
Hamas group confirmed on Tuesday that five of its members were killed, but none were members of the negotiating team, in the Israeli strike on Qatar, an incident that can trigger a fresh conflict in the region.
