New Delhi/IBNS, Oct. 31 -- The Congress-led INDIA bloc on Saturday began a symbolic "public impeachment" of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in New Delhi, accusing the Election Commission of facilitating alleged electoral irregularities and undermining the democratic process.

Kharge moved the symbolic motion, while former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the proceedings, which were organised along the lines of a parliamentary session.

Opposition leaders reiterated their allegations that the BJP-led NDA government was illegitimate and that recent elections had been "stolen".
