IMFA eyes major capacity boost as Kalinganagar Greenfield project nears commissioning
India, Aug. 4 -- Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), India's largest producer of ferro chrome, on Tuesday said its greenfield expansion project at Kalinganagar (KNR 1) is progressing on schedule after receiving the required Consent to Operate (CTO) and Factory Licence.
The company said the process of commissioning the first furnace is underway, with hot metal tapping expected in the third week of August 2026. The second furnace is likely to be commissioned in September.
IMFA also said all four furnaces at its KNR 2 facility are now operational, helping the company achieve quarterly ferro chrome production of more than 80,000 tonnes for the first time.
