India, July 8 -- The mother of the key accused in the Baruipur rape case in West Bengal, who was killed during a police encounter, has refused to claim his body, saying that his son got the punishment for the act her performed.

Speaking to media, Sandhya Mondal said: "My son has been punished for what he did."

"We do not want to see him again. We will not claim his body. We will not bring him back to the house," she added.

His wife told media: "He has been shot dead in the encounter for the crime he has committed. I have seen his misdeeds even after our marriage."
