India, July 4 -- A woman has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Agra for allegedly murdering her husband and burying his body beneath the bathroom floor of their home in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.

The victim, identified as Surendra Sharma, had been missing for the past 45 days.

The case took a dramatic turn when police, acting on growing suspicions raised during the investigation, dug up the bathroom floor and recovered his body.

Police, assisted by workers, broke through a layer of plaster covering the bathroom floor before exhuming the body.

Investigators said they are also examining whether the accused received assistance in carrying out the murder or hiding the body.
