French woman, five children rescued after 12 years of captivity in Pakistan
Islamabad/IBNS, June 25 -- A French woman and her five children have been rescued in Pakistan after allegedly being held captive by her husband for more than a decade, media reports said.
Husband arrested
Police have arrested Yasmina's husband, a Pakistani national, in connection with the case.
Following their rescue, Yasmina and her children were shifted to a shelter in Peshawar, where authorities are providing assistance and protection.
Child's complaint exposes ordeal
The case came to light when one of Yasmina's sons managed to sneak out of the house and approach the police with a complaint.
Acting on the information, police conducted a rescue operation and recovered the family from what was described as a dilapidated room.
