India, Sept. 8 -- Former Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta, 74, has died by suicide at his residence in Noida, media reports said.

His body was found on September 6, and his cremation was held on Sunday.

Police recovered a note in which Mehta reportedly cited health and mental health issues as the reason behind his decision.

Served as Delhi Chief Secretary in 2007

Mehta, a 1975-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, served in several key positions in the Delhi government during his career.

Mehta took charge as Delhi's Chief Secretary in 2007 and remained in the post for more than three years.
