Kolkata/IBNS, July 8 -- Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee slapped her own party worker during a protest march in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The protest, led by Banerjee, was organised over the alleged rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Baruipur.

The rally also witnessed clashes between BJP and TMC supporters, prompting police intervention.

A video of the incident shows a TMC worker attempting to control the crowd and create a passage for Banerjee as she walked through supporters during the march.

Moments later, Banerjee appears to lose her temper and slap the worker before continuing with the procession.
