India, April 26 -- Six passengers were injured after a SWISS International Air Lines flight aborted takeoff at Delhi airport following an engine fire incident early Sunday, officials said. 

The injured have been admitted to hospital.

Emergency evacuation on runway

All passengers were evacuated using emergency slides after the aircraft came to a halt on the runway. Authorities said the flight was bound for Zurich when the incident occurred.

Flight LX147, operated by an Airbus A330, began its takeoff run around 1:08 am when one of its engines failed and caught fire.

The crew immediately rejected the takeoff, preventing the aircraft from becoming airborne.
