Washington DC/IBNS, Oct. 9 -- US President Donald Trump has announced Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of Gaza peace deal.

The President said it is a "great day" for the Arab, Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding nations and the US.

As per a report by BBC News, Hamas has agreed to the deal but it is yet to receive the final list of prisoners to be released by Israel in exchange.

Thanking President Trump for his "leadership", "partnership" and "commitment", Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the deal "a diplomatic success and moral victory" of the country.

A ceasefire will be in effect when the Israeli government is approved at 14:00 Jerusalem time.
