Chennai/IBNS, Aug. 4 -- The DMK has accused the Vijay-led government of resorting to "oppressive tactics" after Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested over his controversial remarks allegedly directed at actor Trisha Krishnan.

She further alleged that the arrest was aimed at preventing Udhayanidhi from attending the Tamil Nadu Assembly session beginning on Wednesday.

In a dramatic turn of events in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday morning, Udhayanidhi was arrested over his controversial remarks allegedly directed at actor Trisha Krishnan.

Udhayanidhi was taken into custody from his residence. As police escorted him out, he was seen smiling at supporters and the media.
