India, July 25 -- Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday quit amid massive NEET paper leak protests across several cities in the country for the past several days.

Pradhan resigned after a month-long protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), who were camped at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the protest and began hunger strike on June 28 but weeks later he was forcefully removed by Delhi Police and was admitted to a government hospital.

Later, he was shifted to a private clinic as per a court order.

The police action triggered nationwide fury with thousands of people hitting streets to protests in all major cities including Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna.
