Dengue alert in Bengal: Health minister asks schools to ditch skirts, allow salwars and full-sleeves for students
Kolkata/IBNS, Sept. 5 -- West Bengal Health Minister Dr Sharadwat Mukherjee has urged schools across the state to allow students to wear clothing that covers their arms and legs as a precaution against mosquito bites during the peak dengue transmission period, media reports said.
Dr Mukherjee made the appeal following a high-level meeting at the state health department headquarters, Swasthya Bhavan.
Acknowledging that it would be difficult to contain dengue cases entirely within a short period, the minister said ensuring that children's arms and legs remain covered during the peak transmission period could serve as an immediate preventive measure.
